PUBLIC INPUT

The Tree, Parks, and Open Space Master Plan is only the beginning of public input. The year-long master plan process included robust public participation which guided the development of key projects for the next five to ten years. Public input must continue as additional planning and implementation of the plan proceeds. Maximizing the success of Newport’s trees, parks, open spaces, view corridors, and waterfronts depend upon all residents having a voice in major decisions. Some decisions are big, creating significant impact; many other decisions are small. The key to ensuring that public desires are fully reflected in all decisions – both large and small – is maximizing input into planning processes.

The Newport Open Space Partnership is currently working to create a process, through the City of Newport’s Open Space Commission, that will allow public input for all future public tree, park, and open space projects.
